Installation and FAQ

How do I install Office?

After purchase, you can install Office at www.office.com/myaccount. For more information, see the FAQ.

What's the difference between Office 365 plans and Office 2016 suites?

Office 365 plans include the complete suite of Office applications, plus other services that are enabled over the Internet, including extra cloud storage with OneDrive and Skype minutes for home use. With Office 365 you get the full, installed Office experience on PCs, Macs, tablets (including Windows, iPad, and Android) and smartphones. Office 365 plans are available as a monthly or annual subscription. With Office 365, upgrades are always included with your subscription.

Office 2016 suites, including Office Home & Student and Home & Business, include applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote; they are available as a one-time purchase for use on a single PC or Mac. The applications are not automatically updated; to get the latest version, you must purchase Office again when the new version becomes available.

Ratings and reviews

Rated 1 out of5 by fromIt does not do grammar check. The title of this review tells it all. Even with the four hour assistance of a Microsoft technician I was unable to get grammar check to work.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromI've used Microsoft office for yearsAdded to iPad. Still have PC but thought I could get the best of both Doesn't work as well as I had hoped. Very disappointed word will not merge tables. Excel should be for numbers not a word shortfall work around. Folks need to be aware of limitations before purchase. If I'm wrong please send directions. Thank you.

Rated 3 out of5 by fromDissapointed in the amount of support needed.I have used office for many years and was shocked to find I could not use my system on windows 10. Note book and PowerPoint worked straight away but I had to get support to make excel and word to work. It took three attempts to get outlook to work and even then I had to manually bring files from my old system.

Rated 5 out of5 by fromWorth a trySigned up for one year free trial, as my old Office, 2007, wasn't performing very well. Pleased with the extended OneDrive storage. Pleased with the (almost) instant copy of saved files to OneDrive. So far, the applications are working fine - no problems.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromGreat product but let down!I've been using the office sweet for a few weeks now and I really like most of it. Although I have only used Word, Excel and Outlook I am already impressed by the look and functionality.I am however very dissapointed with Outlook! Somedays it takes an age to load, it randomly asks me for my password for my pop email address even though i've already supplied it and getting my Google mail on it has thus far eluded me. I have contact support about the when i first started using it but i've not had a suitable response.

Rated 4 out of5 by fromGood but not perfect.I had Office 2007 previously and decided to get Office 365 since Office 2007 was starting to get a bit outdated. I have to say, I'm definitely impressed by the improvements over 2007. The applications are more productive with better features, and the user interface is much more visually appealing. However, I did have a problem with Outlook 2016. When I first connected my Microsoft Account, it would not detect, show or download my messages. After disconnecting and then re-connecting my account a few times, it did start working, but now I have another problem; I can't connect my Google Account. When I try, I receive an email on my Google Account saying that the application doesn't meet modern security standards so therefore it refuses to allow Outlook to connect to my Gmail account. That said, I don't think that should be a deal-breaker unless you're a person who is buying Office 365 specifically for Outlook.

Rated 2 out of5 by fromNot really pleased at the moment! The program would be great if it wouldn't freeze up at times when I go to save a report periodically and end up loosing hours worth of work. Sadly, I have no choice but to keep trying.
